It enables Abarth to control and optimize the entire sales process of the SuperSport kit. The system consists of three different operating environments:

• Administration main server (available at the central software factory);
• Netbook (at the workshop);
• VCI device (at the workshop).

Every tool sent to the authorized dealers is first registered at the main server by coupling its serial number to the recipient (dealer). Upon arrival, the tool will require a first “one-off” activation. This consists of the following steps:

• Physical connection of the PC to the VCI;
• PC booting and guided network configuration;
• Mutual registration PC-VCI;
• Central registration PC-VD-dealer.

This mutual exchange is mandatory, unless a central intervention is required in case of parts replacement or operator error. At every connection, the tool (in its full configuration) verifies its own updates, both concerning the basic software and the firmware for the ECU.

System software components

On the server are located all the basic services available to the Netbook (dealer) applications for the implementation and management of the functions that process the dealer’s operational and control data.

On the NetBook the entire man-machine interface will be available to execute all the software processes planned for the kit.

The VCI is the brain of the system. Since this is intelligent (Linux based), we have ported into it many of the functionalities required for the implementation of the flash processes, as well as everything concerning the interaction with the ECU.
