Analysis and development of the entire software required to implement the PIS (Passenger Information System) module installed on board of high-speed trains built by Ansaldo/Breda for the Dutch and Belgian railways. The system was developed in accordance with the technical specs AB AA03AH6. For the management of the connectivity among the PIS modules installed in each train coach, the requirements have been met by developing WISP, an ad-hoc protocol that provides LAN network services (e.g. Socket) in non-exclusive mode (without declared Mater) on Rs485 multidrop connection. Further on, an interface to bus MVB and UIC 568 has been developed for interaction with external devices
The system provides automatic route management, by taking via MVB the GPS current position and all other parameters related to the train’s operations. It also provides continuous information to passengers on internal and external display boards and multilingual audio summaries. In addition to the information to passengers and Intercom messaging, the project included the implementation of all configurations, diagnostic and visualization of system parameters. To this purpose, a special video/keyboard console has been installed in each coach for use by the train staff. The project was developed for Tattile S.p.A. on behalf of the final client Ansaldo Breda.
The system can be distributed on more servers. This characteristic leads to:
Developed together with Turin-based SEPA, it currently operates on 650 trains of Trenitalia national railways.
Communication system for passengers, with full management of visualization on internal (on board) and external displays, as well as of train-to-train and train-station communication.
The system supports the UIC568 and MVB standards.
All audio passenger communications
Internal/External displays handling
All intercoms train/train & train/ground
UIC568 standards
MVB communicatons
650 Trains for Trenitalia Railways
TCMS communication gateway enabling transmission and communication between the different levels of the train’s bus.
All protocol levels and all interfaces have been implemented.
Developed on a Linus embedded system customized for this purpose.
The system is installed on 250 trains of the Chinese railways.
In partnership with Turin-based SEPA, While1 has implemented a complete video surveillance system for the Mumbai Underground.
The system has been developed on a Linux embedded platform especially customized by While1 in each component (file-system, bootloader, ...) and able to communicate with the AMD card for video grabbing.
Currently in use on 100 trains of the Mumbai Underground.
